Ethical Practice
The principles that hold the work together and protect every client in our care.
Ethical practice is the foundation of all psychological care. Dr. Al Shamsi follows the ethical standards of the American Psychological Association (2017) to ensure that every client is treated with safety, respect, and integrity. The principles below describe how those standards are applied in practice — and why each one matters.
"Psychologists strive to benefit those with whom they work and take care to do no harm."
Why They Matter
Each principle protects a different part of the client's wellbeing. Confidentiality builds trust. Informed consent respects autonomy. Boundaries protect against harm. Cultural sensitivity ensures treatment fits the person, not just the diagnosis. Evidence-based practice ensures the treatments offered are likely to actually help.
Together they create a room in which real healing can take place.
